Breaking The Silence

Research indicates that victims of domestic violence are "five times more likely to attempt suicide, fifteen times more likely to abuse alcohol, nine times more likely to abuse drugs, and three times more likely to be diagnosed as depressed or psychotic."  Gang related activity, drug abuse and the increasing numbers of incarcerated women are often the result of an underlying problem, which if investigated, would more than likely reveal a history of physical and emotional violence.   Page 20
